Transforming Your Relationship with Money

Money is energy, not evil

Money is more than just a currency; it's a form of energy, a reflection of power, and often, a source of stress. Getting lost in the idea that money is evil can severely impact our relationship with it. The actual quote is, “the love of money is the root of all evil”, not money itself. Understanding this can fundamentally transform your perspective on wealth. It can also help you feel more comfortable and confident when discussing finances.

YOUR MINDSET MATTERS

Most people believe they'll be better off once they earn more, but this isn't always the case. Your sense of control over your finances is a far better predictor of your well-being. Those who believe they are in control are more likely to save, budget, and recover from financial setbacks.

While formal education is important, self-education about money can make a significant difference. Taking control of your financial life, especially when you're struggling, is the way to build lasting wealth.

DON'T PLAY SAFE

Don’t act broke to seem relatable or to make others comfortable. Hiding your financial goals out of shame or fear of envy only holds you back. Your financial aspirations speak for who you are and what you want to achieve. Don't stay silent about money; instead, learn how to talk about it and take steps to improve your situation.

Your brain is lazy and programmable. Don't just make money; learn to make it work for you. Be safe, not sorry. Don't spend money to impress people, and don't borrow to fund a temporary lifestyle. The goal isn't to look wealthy; it's to be wealthy. Spending money to appear rich won’t make you rich—it’s a habit for future failure.

SMART SAVING AND SPENDING

Look at your bank statement to see where most of your money goes. Don't just save what you don't see; automate your savings and separate it from your spending money. Save first, then spend what's left.

Debt is a major issue, but ignorance is even worse. If you can find a way to make money while you're asleep, you won't have to work until you die. You can't beat the system if you don't know the rules. It's not about being lazy, but being overwhelmed. Money is an excellent servant but a terrible master.

You can’t change your future until you challenge your current programming. It’s not about how much you have; it’s about how you treat it. Money changes in the hands of those who have more to give. Your generosity can make a difference, and it’s a better marker of who you are than your possessions.

Money is energy. It is identity.
